Dear Colleagues, the professors, the elite of Scholars and Researchers …. Dear Attendees …. Dear Guests.
It was my personal pleasure to thank every attendee by name as you are all distinguished and have prestigious scientific ranks, but due to the brevity of time, this is not allowed.
It is a pleasure also to welcome you to Egypt and show a respect out of dignity and appreciation together with my utmost happiness to have you here at the prestigious Ain Shams University to inaugurate the activities of the Conference of the Arab Center for Education and Development.
This conference that brings us together annually, it is true that organizing this conference for eleven years now is an indicator of continuity and a mark of seriousness and deserves appreciation.
On this occasion I would like to hail distinguished guests who preferred to attend and participate despite of their great tasks and they have endured the efforts of joining us from inside and outside Egypt to give us support and give blessings to our efforts, and in this respect, I would like to send my greetings to brothers of the Arab Nation who came from Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Algeria, Sultanate of Oman and off-course Egypt, and more than thirty Organizations, University and Arabian Institutions to participate jointly with us in the activities of this Conference which is dedicated to one of the most important future concerns that is always with us.
Ladies and gentlemen,
It is a great honor that is every year renewable to address you in this important scientific conference which we met this year on one of the most delicate sustainable development issue titled: The Future of Knowledge Component for Sustainable Development (Education and Ideal Scientific Research), to highlight the important role “of the knowledge” in more evident manner and more influential than ever before, where the knowledges are accelerating lately at a rate surpassing the previous ones during continuing centuries .. This reflected on the countries that could catch up with excessive knowledge pace, the matter that lead to creating a knowledge, digital and technological gap between the countries that produced, conceived and used the knowledge and the countries that could not coup with that.
Therefore, the Arab Nation that have taken a limited portion of knowledge or being late to benefit, must seek to achieve progress in this regard toward the eminent knowledge community.
The start must be crossing over this digital gap by means of the educational, academic and technological organization as to achieve balanced and equal competition with other countries controlling the knowledge.
We would like to repeat and confirm the concrete fact that lead to that approaching the knowledge community may not be achieved but with bridging the knowledge and technological gap.
It is true that those Arab organizations with their human, scientific and research resources that are trained and highly qualified and because of the sustainable traditions and the peculiarity of the civilization position was qualified to take the top of this ranking, and in the same time plays its basic role in recognizing the development requirements of their societies, and eventually, bridge the gap with the advanced communities, and became the motive power for the sustainable development and total progress movement.
On the contrary, the size of Arab research and knowledge achievements became shorter than the bench mark that qualifies for taking the prominent position in the International Ranking, meanwhile renders it to be strongly influential in its environment and society and able to increase communication with the local, regional and global updates.
It is very important to ignore this continuing backwards which is increasing by time passing in education and research organization, which is exposed –under the severe international and regional circumstances- to waves dictating civilization and global challenges, and invite for more crisis that threatens not only our educational and university organization, but more than that it threatens our national security.
There is another very important fact which is the issues related to Arab university and research organizations is related to low level and the collapse of public education system and its values in a manner that made this system is the problem and can be the solution in the same time, therefore, the matter mandates to look into this system and consider the ways to improve, update and plan to the end that makes it a strong venue in support to the higher education and scientific research as to promote its local, regional and international competitive capacity.
Especially, when the prevailing development methodology need an actual and urgent assistance by the Universities and its research centers, because in the light of the accelerating sociological and economical changes that hit our Arab societies, there were sociological deep changes generated, its impacts covered all aspects of life and sociology consequences, this mandated an active and effective role of the scholars, researchers and educators to reach a deep understanding. These consequences especially those negative ones, and act to predict their routes and draw alternative to control and direct towards the aspired development, will serve as a means to enrich the scientific research instead of being a hindrance thereto.
Based on the above mentioned, the crisis of our Arab institutes may not face these risks and crisis but with a new intellectual trend and sustainable innovations.
In this respect, those institutions became in dire need to an active strategic planning aspiring to far extent the changes: This planning is moving within future prospective and available strategy and limit those crisis impacts that represent a potential threat to be avoided, and enhance its potential opportunities that have to be invested. It should recline in this respect to a methodology based on deep intellectual studies which help to invent the tools and means to create probabilities, possibilities and priorities, and put us before the possibilities, powers and real resources of these institutions in a manner facilitates adapting with the changing environment requirements and keeping the balance between the available and potential resources. Such strategic management of the Arab knowledge system must be taken from general development policies that surpasses the tight sectorial views.
Due to the very importance of this conference and its anticipated directives to guide the Arab educational and research minds, an elite of Arab decision making, prominent scholars, politician, the executive leaders of academic, research, and educational matters have responded and attended this conference in an unprecedented manner.
In light of the above mentioned, I expect that this conference significant and constructive contributions in the general debate will lead to the means to promote the sustainable development: which lead to infuse a new spirit and new blood to our Arab institutions, and I am confident the sessions of this conference will handle delicate issue within extended debates between the prominent scholars and holders of various experiences of our Arab world.
The expectations of this conference is to enhance the debate between the scholars and the specialists on one part and the decision makers on the other hand. Therefore, we seek to implant hope in the Arab environment in respect of future, development, knowledge and economy.
In conclusion, I would like to greatly thank all those who extended help or support to this conference and participated in the enriching of its activities, therefore, I do present the activities of this important conference to the makers of the development policies so that it may enhance and support their efforts.
I would like to mention herein that this conference came as a fruit of etensive cooperation between the Center and many bodies on top of them Ain Shams University the Academic Patron of this conference, and to all patron bodies.
I started my word with the name of Allah, most Compassionate, most Merciful and our closing prayers is: Thanks are exclusively for the Almighty Allah, the Lord of all worlds.
We wish to our valuable guests a good stay and safe return.
The Almighty Allah is the Guidance and Helpful.
Peace be upon you.
